Despite their enormous weight and size, elephants are incredible swimmers. They don’t usually get many chances to swim in dry habitats like Africa. The ones at the Fuji Zoo in Japan are fortunate as they can swim whenever they feel like taking a dip in the pool. The zoo built a giant poll just for them to swim in, and they sure are enjoying every moment of it!
The elephant pool was built transparent so that visitors could observe how the rest of their body looks underwater while swimming. They may not have flippers or even webbed feet, yet these giants move effortlessly through the water. The zoo in which they were kept did come under fire for letting visitors play with the baby lions on the premises.
